

The City is an American television soap opera that aired on ABC from November 13, 1995 to March 28, 1997. The show follows the loves and lives of the survivors of the Corinth Serial Killer as they all moved from the Pennsylvania town of Corinth to an apartment building in New York's SoHo district. The show was a spinoff of Loving, also co-created by Agnes Nixon and head writers, Barbara Esensten and James Harmon Brown. The show won two Daytime Emmy Awards in 1996.

In the series premiere, former Corinth residents move into their new home, a trendy loft at 212 Greene St. in SoHo. Tess Wilder sets up her ad agency with the help of employees Steffi, Ally, Danny and the building superintendent Bernardo. Later, Ally, Steffi and Steffi's boyfriend Tony get a nasty welcome to New York when they find a dead mobster rolled up in a rug. After looking at her new medical clinic, newly separated Dr. Angie Hubbard declines her lover Jacob's offer to move in with him because she's still legally married. Angie's son Frankie arrives and gives his reluctant acceptance of her new relationship. Now down on his luck, former rock-and-roll singer Nick Rivers returns to the city and has a run-in with a homeless Zoey and a girl named Kayla. Aussie Richard Wilkins, who arranged for the new tenants to move in, invites Tess into the private penthouse of the building's owner- weatlhy media mogul Sydney Chase, Tess's idol.
